My practice is centered on an exploration of my environment through observational drawing and painting. I believe the best way to explore a place is through direct and careful observation. The process of observational painting is especially adept at this particular type of investigation. In my work I am seeking a sense of place. When looking at a space, I am most engaged with the juxtaposition between the man-made landscape and the natural elements. I want to explore a place in the most direct and unbiased way I can imagine. Using primarily plein air practices as a means of generating imagery. I am seeking to create a visual experience that investigates the connectivity between the old and new infrastructures that are central to any block, neighborhood, or city.
