My work is an example of the kinds of things I wish to see in the world, embodied through excited and sometimes overworked materials. Energy is evoked in varying amounts resulting in many contrasting feelings, and thoughts for myself and the viewer. I provoke my audience into discovering imagery beneath layered materials and processes. I invoke my materials to illuminate and guide experiences for the viewer to investigate further.
I create hybrid moments of chaos and control as a means of depicting spiritual and cultural specificity or distance. A successful painting may be the balanced result of these elusive images that I intermittently control. And sometimes my purpose is to reveal illustrations of what I want the viewer to uncover and ultimately understand.
