I started drawing over 70 years ago and studied art at Southeastern Oklahoma University after being inspired by great artists in European museums. I prefer oils and colored pencil for their richness of color, but graphite and pen and ink, clay and stone also interest me. Important influences on my work have been Nicoli Fechin, Sergei Bongart, Ergon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and African sculpture. Subject matter comes from my subconscious, but the common thread of my work over the years has been people and cultural influences. My goal is to always work expressively and with simplicity, producing an abstract quality. Each work is an effort to create yet a better work of art in the use of the elements of design. A touch of whimsy adds to the fun. I hope you enjoy the wonder of it all. Please visit http://www.hollisrichardsonpaintings.com
