Recent paintings are interpretations of water, especially focused on the Rocky River and Lake Erie which are both part of my every waking day. I spend time meditating and praying near and on the water while paddle boarding and kayaking, and I am attempting to translate its movement and ever changing moods into my paintings.

The paintings begin with inspiration from the extensive color palette that I see in reflections of light, landscape and other objects in and on the water. Touch, sound and sight conjure a personal connection with the water’s surface.

Layers take shape through the action of pouring paint onto the canvas while it’s flat on the ground. Sherwin Williams latex paint is my medium of choice; it’s consistency and wide range of colors is a perfect fit for these works.

Water ebbs and flows. It carves paths, can be peaceful or violent and is a symbol of resilience.
I relate many of the happenings in my life to the qualities of water, and I hold a deep emotional connection to its power.

I work on commission and custom paintings for homes, offices and other spaces. Please send me a message if you're interested in discussing opportunities!
