Emmalyn Marie is a contemporary representational painter, trained in classical oil painting and drawing. She studied painting and drawing at Laguna College of Art + Design (LCAD) in Laguna Beach, California and graduated with a BFA in 2015. Emmalyn also studied at theFlorence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, completing their intensive drawing program from 2013-2014. Emmalyn's strong foundational skills in painting are elevated by both these schools. You can trace her love of painting nature scapes and botanicals to the plein air inspired programs at LCAD, while her meticulous attention to detail was honed during her time in Florence, where students regularly spent two to four months working on one painting. She is grateful for the diversity in her classical education as I feel it shaped her into the passionate and skilled artist she is today.

Emmalyn's current series of botanical paintings is titled “The Understory.” She finds inspiration for her work when she's fully present in nature, practicing the art of forest bathing, a Japanese meditation practice of going out in nature, being still and engaging all 5 senses. Her painting practice is an extension of her meditative time in nature. Emmalyn is passionate about painting mother nature because she truly believes that our deep connection to the earth brings us home to our true selves.

Emmalyn travels full time in her self renovated motorhome with her loving husband and two cats. She is a full time artist as well as a yoga teacher and feminine empowerment coach.
