Von Schneider’s manipulates non-traditional materials in a continued thesis on the vibrations and spiritual content of the Earth. Through printmaking, painting and drawing, as well as installation pieces, she embeds memories of place and time using soil, rocks, bone, rock salt and other natural materials and combines them with man-made materials such as glitter, primer, motor oil and industrial foam. Von Schneider’s work encourages touch and introspection by the viewer; carrying them to a topographical dream place or a memory of their own.
In addition to her studio work, von Schneider is a long time curator and mentor, as well as the visual arts writer for the alt-weekly Cleveland Scene Magazine. Her work is in private collections in the United States and abroad.
