I explore internal and external space in my work, giving myself over completely to the process. I allow myself to go where the painting leads, until the journey comes to its natural conclusion. For me, it is just as much about the process as it is the final work. Layer upon layer of paint is added and scraped away - a process of excavating - until the pigments, markings, textures, and patterns resonate with me and the canvas becomes fully realized. The markings and patterns are like notes and rhythms that direct where I go with the composition of the piece.

I strive for a sense of harmony and balance within the tension of the space, as well as a place of truthfulness and integrity in the work. Even when the final surface may appear calm, I want the viewer to feel the underlying energy in each piece. I walk the fine line between the seen and the unseen, creating paintings that are contemplative and meditative in nature, with the hope that the transcendent nature of the work will allow each person to respond based upon their own experiences.
