Claire facilitates the fusion of arts practice and community engagement through the festival arts. She seeks to bring disparate communities together in common celebration with community arts events.
Claire aims to use community arts events to foster unity in shared dance, ritual, and occupying of communal space. Costumed dancers, handmade masks, music, narrative, and choreography are the mediums through which she facilitates community building.
Claire uses her background in immigrant and refugee advocacy as the backbone to build connections between communities separated by differences in culture, nationality, or language. Community arts provide a space to develop relationships, share and learn about different cultures and histories which coalesce in a communal art project or event.
Claire is inspired by the historical roots and artistic techniques of Carnival in Trinidad and Tobago and Carnival in Brazil.
