Growing up near the country, I am inspired by memories of the surrounding rural landscapes and a personal connection to time in a modern society. My work explores the material waste in a throwaway culture and questions the intrinsic value of consumerism. I create abstract landscapes with a continuous composition out of paper waste and other materials in the form of dimensional drawings and collages. In my practice, I aim to work with re-purposed materials to emphasize the notion of decay and impermanence. By drawing a parallel between the accumulation of material waste and the natural world, I intend to provoke thoughts about our perception of time and space. Every moment is moving. Every moment is shifting.
