Hi, I am Barb Bloom and I am a lifelong resident of NE Ohio, making my studio at the ArtCraft Building on the edge of Asiatown. My husband, Stephen is a soapmaker extraordinare . I am also mom of a sweet dog named Daisy. I am also a blogger. My primary focus in my art is surface design. Serti , or French resist method involves transfer of drawn design to the silk by applying gutta resist. The silk is stretched on a frame and painted. The silk is steamed set, color fast and washable.
We also participate in third Fridays at 78th Street studios and can be found in the studio space of Jeff Dube and Alan Kradlak in #203.
I resonate with the philosophy Louis Comfort Tiffany advocated: we need to be surrounded with beauty, and art allows us to find encouragement, vibrance and joy. It is my goal to fulfill this philosophy to daily life, crating vivid, joy filled designs.
